Nutrition

Australia’s peak health body, the NH&MRC, has finally recognised that a vegan diet is a viable option for all Australians. Australia’s top health experts are now in agreement with those in the USA and Canada that well-planned vegan diets are healthy, nutritionally adequate and are appropriate for all stages of the lifecycle.

Read more about how the Australian government recognises vegan diet as viable option for all Australians.

Governments all over the world are now declaring a vegan diet an extremely healthy one.

“The use of indexing systems, estimating the overall diet quality based on different aspects of healthful models (be it the U.S dietary guidelines for Americans or the compliance to the Mediterranean diet) indicated consistently the vegan diet as the most healthy one.” Source: nutritionfacts.org

This is not surprising since we humans have many more traits of a herbivore, and very few of an omnivore. Read more about this on the anatomy section of the Save Poppy website.

Childhood obesity and diabetes on the rise. Evidence is showing children becoming diabetic in their childhood will have their lives cut short by 20 years. Physicians are warning us to prevent pre-diabetes, and the earlier the better.

In this brilliant presentation by Michael Gregor he presents the scientific evidence showing that a whole food plant based diet can prevent 14 of the 15 leading causes of death. “Death in America is largely a foodborne illness. Focusing on studies published just over the last year in peer-reviewed scientific medical journals, Michael Greger, M.D., offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse many of the top 15 killers in the United States.”

The environment

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Many facts can be found on the environment section of the Save Poppy website. Addressing these issues and embracing change is vital if we are to leave a future for our children and their children.

No human will starve in a plant based world. A global shift towards a vegan diet is vital to save the world from hunger, fuel poverty and the worst impacts of climate change. Raising livestock for meat consumes a large portion of the world’s crops and fresh drinking water. Currently, agriculture, “particularly meat and dairy products,” account for 70 percent of the world’s freshwater consumption. It also accounts for 39 percent of the globe’s total land use. Importantly, as the population grows, the impact from agriculture will substantially grow as well, thanks to the the increasing consumption of animal products. The United Nations 2.6.2010 Report states “unlike fossil fuels, it is difficult to look for alternatives.” The only option is to cut down on the number of animal products consumed.

The following video shows the worlds biggest destructors of the environment , highlighting the urgency for a plant based world in order for todays children to have a future on the planet.

Can a vegan diet save the world?

The UN Report notes that “unlike fossil fuels, it is difficult to look for alternatives.” The only option is to cut down on the number of animal products consumed. There are a lot more facts on the humanity section of the Save Poppy website. Children of today can be the pioneer of change.

A kinder world for kids

Reshaping a culture begins with each and every one us. It is surely our duty as adults to teach our children the kindest way to treat their precious bodies, the fragile planet, as well as the most innocent, yet abused & tortured beings on the planet, the animals. It takes nothing away from humans to be kinder to animals. If we can live long, happy, healthy lives without harming others, then why don’t we?

The three videos below may well enhance your family’s life in a profound and wonderful way. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
